Koofers, a knowledge-sharing hub and community for students has secured $500,000 of a $2 million first round peHUB reports, citing a regulatory filing. Altos Ventures and New Atlantic Ventures provided the funds. While it’s a small amount, it does seem to be part of a larger trend toward incubating social-education and learning-based startups: stealth educational site Brightstorm picked up $6 million in its first round in October, group study site Cramster got $3 million in September, and Unigo, a college resource hub received an undisclosed amount of funding from a group of prominent investors (including Capstone hedge fund founder Paul Britton), also in September.
